J&K U-17 boys and girls win bronze medals at Roll Ball National Championship

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s U-17 boys’ and girls’ teams won bronze medals at the North Zone Roll Ball National Championship 2026 held at Parade Ground and Shukun Sports Academy in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from August 29 to 31.

Teams from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the U-11 and U-17 categories of the championship. The U-17 boys’ team was led by captain Omaik Bagdadi and included Agrim, Bhavyansh, Medhansh Kumar, Ahamdeep, Yogeshwar, Tanesh Kumar, Rasiq Khan, Zehraan, Anas Bin Yassin, Mohammad Aneef and Sunandas.

The U-17 girls’ team was captained by Qurat-ul-Ain and comprised goalkeeper Eleeza Mukhdomi, Meera Verma, Arushema Mir, Areeba, Aliza, Dhwani and Nanda.

The J&K teams were coached by M. Ashraf Dijoo, with Manvi Vijay Singh, Suresh Kumar and Sameer Gupta serving as assistant coaches.

Both the U-17 boys’ and girls’ teams secured bronze medals in their respective categories, while Uttar Pradesh emerged as the overall champion of the tournament.

Qurat-ul-Ain was adjudged the best scorer of the championship and was awarded a bicycle for her performance. According to organisers, she had also received the same award at the national championship held in Agra last year.

In the boys’ category, captain Omaik Bagdadi scored 10 goals during the championship.

The J&K U-11 boys’ team also participated in the national championship for the first time. Coaches and referees were honoured during the concluding ceremony of the event.
