According to officials, banks disbursed ₹1,287 crore under the priority sector during the first quarter of 2026-27 against an annual target of ₹6,804.46 crore, achieving nearly 19 per cent of the target. Lending under the non-priority sector stood at ₹628.55 crore against a target of ₹2,567.21 crore, translating into an achievement of 24.5 per cent.

Reviewing the performance, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to improve credit flow to priority sectors, particularly agriculture and allied activities, and called for timely and hassle-free loan disbursement. He also directed banks to strengthen lending under schemes where progress had declined, including the PM Vishwakarma initiative.

The meeting reviewed implementation of schemes such as PM SVANidhi, PMEGP, Mudra, Jan Dhan Yojana, Mission YUVA and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Officials informed the meeting that loans worth ₹249.18 crore had been disbursed to 4,277 beneficiaries under Mission YUVA out of 4,691 sanctioned cases.

Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, banks have disbursed around ₹45 crore to 2,512 beneficiaries in the district so far, officials said.

The Deputy Commissioner directed banks and line departments to ensure greater financial inclusion, expedite credit delivery under flagship schemes and regularly monitor progress to achieve annual targets.
