SHOPIAN: The Inter-District Divisional Level Table Tennis Championship for boys and girls was inaugurated at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Shopian on Saturday.
Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, inaugurated the championship as the chief guest.
Addressing the participants, the MLA appreciated the efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports in promoting sporting activities and providing platforms for young athletes to showcase their talent. He encouraged players to compete with dedication, discipline and sportsmanship and urged them to work hard to achieve success at higher levels of competition.
Officials said around 50 girls from various districts of the Kashmir division are participating in the Under-17 category of the championship.
The tournament is aimed at promoting competitive sports and identifying talented players for higher-level competitions, officials added.
