MSME Ministry holds entrepreneurship awareness prog in Kupwara village

Srinagar: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) in Khumriyal village of Kupwara district to promote awareness about self-employment and government-backed entrepreneurship schemes.

The programme, conducted by the MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Srinagar, in collaboration with the district administration, focused on the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.

A.K. Tamaria, Head of Office, MSME-DFO Jammu, attended the programme and highlighted the need to extend awareness about MSME schemes to remote areas so that eligible beneficiaries can access available opportunities.

Assistant Director, MSME-DFO Srinagar, Saheel Alaqband, encouraged local youth and aspiring entrepreneurs to explore self-employment opportunities under various government schemes. He also spoke about the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir and informed participants about efforts to facilitate market access for artisans through online platforms.

Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara Munab briefed participants on schemes available through the Agriculture Department and allied sectors, while Lead District Manager Kupwara outlined the role of banks in providing credit and financial assistance to entrepreneurs.

Industrial Promotion Officer, District Industries Centre (DIC) Kupwara, Ishfaq Ahmad, explained the eligibility criteria, benefits and application procedures under PMEGP, PM Vishwakarma and other departmental schemes.

More than 50 participants attended the programme, which concluded with an interactive session on financing, eligibility requirements and implementation procedures related to various government schemes.
