Baramulla: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Baramulla, on Monday organised inter-zonal district-level karate and badminton competitions for girls at different venues in the district.
The karate competition for girls across various age groups was held at the Indoor Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, and witnessed participation of more than 50 athletes.
The Under-19 girls’ badminton competition was conducted at the Bipin Rawat Indoor Stadium, Baramulla, and concluded on Monday.
According to officials, the competitions are part of the ongoing inter-zonal district-level sports calendar aimed at providing young athletes with opportunities to compete and showcase their sporting abilities.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, said the events witnessed encouraging participation from girls and would help identify and promote sporting talent at the grassroots level.
