Div Com reviews preparations for Harmuk Gangbal Yatra

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday reviewed arrangements for the 18th annual Harmuk Gangbal Yatra and directed departments to ensure all necessary facilities for the smooth conduct of the three-day pilgrimage.

The yatra, organised by the Harmuk Ganga Gangbal Trust (HGGT), is expected to witness participation from around 150–200 pilgrims.

At a review meeting attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jitin Kishore, senior officials from various departments and HGGT General Secretary Vinod Pandit, arrangements related to accommodation, healthcare, water supply, electricity and security were discussed.

Pandit briefed the meeting about the religious programme, including Charri Puja at Naranag Temple and Puja, Pind Daan and Shradha rituals at Harmuk Ganga.

Garg directed the concerned departments to make advance arrangements for tents, bedding and other essential facilities. He also asked officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply through generators and adequate drinking water during the pilgrimage.

The Health Department was directed to deploy a medical team with necessary medicines, equipment and logistics. Officials were also asked to earmark a designated area within the temple premises exclusively for yatris.

The Floriculture Department was instructed to arrange flowers for puja and temple decoration, while the Rural Development Department (RDD) was asked to provide prefabricated toilet facilities.

The meeting was informed that food and langar arrangements for pilgrims would be made by the HGGT.

The Divisional Commissioner also directed deployment of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Civil Defence personnel and asked security agencies to ensure adequate security arrangements during the yatra.
