Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat chaired a security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir on Thursday to assess arrangements for the upcoming annual Kounsarnag Yatra.
The meeting was attended by Special Director General of Police (Coordination) S.J.M. Gillani, Inspectors General of Police of Kashmir and Jammu zones, Deputy Inspectors General of Police of South Kashmir Range and Udhampur-Reasi Range, Senior Superintendents of Police of Kulgam, Reasi and PCR Kashmir, and senior Army and police officers.
According to officials, the meeting reviewed the existing security framework and preparedness measures for the pilgrimage. Officers briefed the DGP on security arrangements and deployment plans along the Yatra route.
Prabhat reviewed various security-related aspects and stressed the need for enhanced coordination among all agencies involved in managing the pilgrimage. He directed officers to maintain a high level of preparedness, strengthen security measures along the Yatra routes and ensure seamless communication among stakeholders.
The DGP said the safety and security of pilgrims would remain the priority and called for effective implementation of all planned measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Kounsarnag Yatra.
The meeting concluded with directions to concerned officers to ensure close coordination and effective execution of security arrangements, officials said.
