Jammu: A delegation of heads of departments, faculty members and office-bearers of the University of Jammu, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, on Wednesday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and discussed issues related to the institution’s growth, development and future academic expansion.
During the meeting, the delegation thanked the Lieutenant Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the University, for facilitating the transfer of 147 kanals and 11 marlas of land from Defence authorities to the university.
The delegation described the transfer as a significant milestone, saying it resolved a long-pending issue and would provide additional space for academic expansion, research and innovation infrastructure, and other institutional requirements.
According to the university representatives, the additional land will help strengthen the institution’s long-term development plans and support future academic and research activities.
The delegation also appreciated the Lieutenant Governor’s vision of transforming the University of Jammu into a globally competitive institution aligned with national educational objectives.
During the interaction, Sinha stressed the need to raise standards in teaching and research, promote innovation and ensure that the university continues to make meaningful contributions to society and nation-building.
