Leh: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday conferred the UT State Awards on 36 individuals for the years 2022-2025, recognising their contributions in diverse fields and their role in the development of Ladakh.
Instituted by the Ladakh Administration, the awards recognise achievements in bravery, literature, art and craft, social reform, empowerment, environmental protection, public service, sports, entrepreneurship, progressive farming, teaching and academics.
Addressing the award ceremony, Saxena said the awards were aimed at recognising individuals whose work had made a meaningful contribution to society and inspiring others, particularly the youth, to contribute to the progress of Ladakh.
“The UT State Awards are not merely a recognition of past achievements; they are a celebration of the values of courage, dedication, service and excellence,” Saxena said.
Congratulating the 36 awardees, he said their achievements extended beyond individual success and contributed to Ladakh’s social, cultural, educational, economic and sporting progress.
Saxena said the journeys of the awardees reflected values of courage, compassion, respect for heritage, commitment to the community and dedication to service. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from their achievements and pursue ambitious goals while remaining committed to society.
The Lieutenant Governor said the administration aimed to create an environment where talent received opportunities, hard work was recognised and young people had the confidence and platform to realise their potential, while ensuring that modern development remained rooted in Ladakh’s cultural values.
