“Like every year, the UT-level August 15 event is being organised at Bakshi Stadium. Arrangements are being made for parade contingents, cultural programmes and illumination of buildings in tricolour colours,” he said.

The Divisional Commissioner said preparatory meetings with various departments and security agencies have already been held and security arrangements are being finalised. Rehearsals involving schoolchildren and security force contingents are also in progress at the venue.

Appealing to people to attend the celebrations, Garg urged children and youth to participate in large numbers.

He said a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally will also be organised on August 12 and is likely to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

According to Garg, the tricolour-themed rally will commence at 7 am from SKICC and conclude at the Botanical Garden. The event is being organised by the Divisional Administration in collaboration with the Department of Culture.

“All people, especially the youth, are invited to attend these national events and participate in large numbers,” he said. (KNO)
