SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Friday reviewed the preparedness for the Har Ghar Tiranga-2026 campaign and the third phase of the 150 Years of Vande Mataram commemorative celebrations, directing officials to ensure maximum public participation and strict adherence to the Flag Code of India.
At a high-level meeting attended by Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments, the Chief Secretary reviewed departmental responsibilities and logistical arrangements for the campaign, which will be held across all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir from August 9 to 17.
Dulloo directed Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to involve every panchayat, Urban Local Body (ULB) and educational institution in the campaign. He also instructed that all National Flags procured should conform to the Flag Code of India and said procurement should be made through local Self-Help Groups and the Department of Posts.
He asked the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and district administrations to conduct awareness campaigns on the proper handling, collection and storage of the National Flag after Independence Day celebrations.
During the meeting, Principal Secretary, Culture, Brij Mohan Sharma informed that Jammu and Kashmir had secured the top position in successive phases of the nationwide Vande Mataram campaign.
Officials said the Union Territory-level flagship event will be held in Srinagar on August 12, beginning at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) and concluding at the Botanical Garden. Deputy Commissioners from all districts will participate virtually.
The programme will include a Tiranga Bike Rally involving paramilitary forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police, a Tiranga Mela featuring local handicrafts, Self-Help Group products and tricolour-themed merchandise, and a patriotic cultural programme. Exhibitions on the history of the National Flag and the freedom movement, along with Tiranga-themed activities in educational institutions, will also be organised across the Union Territory.
The meeting was informed that 14,03,496 National Flags have been requisitioned by the districts for distribution as part of the campaign. Citizens were encouraged to upload photographs of their participation on the official Har Ghar Tiranga portal.
