Srinagar, July 10: The Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Srinagar, on Friday reviewed the implementation of the Official Language Policy in Central government offices across the Kashmir Valley.
The first meeting of TOLIC for 2026 was held at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, under the chairmanship of Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Sagar Hanuman Singh, who also heads the committee.
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by heads of Central government offices, nodal and Hindi officers, representatives of various departments, principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and officers from the CRPF, ITBP and other Central Armed Police Forces.
The committee reviewed compliance with Section 3(3) of the Official Languages Act and called upon member offices to upgrade bilingual websites, expand the use of Unicode tools and the Bhashini AI-powered language translation platform, and organise joint Rajbhasha workshops to strengthen implementation of the Official Language Policy.
Addressing the meeting, Singh said Central government offices should serve as role models in promoting the Official Language by using simple and easily understandable Hindi in official communication. He also encouraged employees to undergo Hindi training courses, including Prabodh, Pragya and Praveen, through online and correspondence modes to improve their working knowledge of the language.
Representatives of various Central government offices also shared suggestions for promoting the use of Hindi in official work.
Regional Passport Officer B.S. Rawat, Information Service Officer, PIB Srinagar, Ifham Ul Islam, and Director Postal Services Prateek were among those present.
