Rafiabad gets infrastructure push as Javid Dar launches key development projects

Minister inaugurates clock tower, lays foundation stones for bridge, roads and accommodation block

Baramulla: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Department Javid Ahmad Dar on Saturday undertook a tour of Rafiabad area in Baramulla district, launching a series of infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and civic facilities.

During the visit, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 1×30-metre RCC Plate Girder Bridge at Doabgah over Nallah Vijibal under the NABARD Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

The bridge, to be executed by the Public Works (R&B) Department at an estimated cost of ₹629.41 lakh, is expected to improve connectivity and provide safer movement facilities for residents.

Javid Dar also laid the foundation stone for the strengthening and upgradation of six kilometres of inner link roads in Ladoora at an estimated cost of ₹507.24 lakh. The project is aimed at providing all-weather road connectivity and improving transport facilities in the area.

The Minister inaugurated a Clock Tower at Rohama Chowk and dedicated the landmark project to the people of the area. He directed officials to install informative signboards highlighting nearby tourist destinations to help visitors and promote the tourism potential of Rohama.

He also laid the foundation stone for an additional accommodation block at Dak Bungalow, Chijhama.

Later, the Minister chaired a public outreach programme at Dak Bungalow, Chijhama, where he interacted with residents and listened to their grievances and developmental demands.

Addressing the gathering, Javid Ahmad Dar said the government is committed to ensuring balanced and inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir by creating durable public assets and strengthening basic infrastructure.

He said several projects launched during the visit were long-pending demands of the local population and would improve the quality of life of residents.

The Minister stressed that all ongoing and sanctioned works must be completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality and transparency. He directed executing agencies to ensure timely completion so that the benefits of the projects reach people without delay.

Senior officers of the district administration, engineers from executing departments, local representatives and residents were present on the occasion.
