Kulgam: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo on Saturday held a public interaction at Sailkhanen village, where residents raised issues related to tourism, water supply and local infrastructure.
During the public darbar, the Minister listened to the concerns of residents and assured that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely resolution.
Addressing the gathering, Sakeena Itoo said the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to strengthening people-centric governance and ensuring better delivery of services, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.
She said several public welfare and development projects have been initiated across Jammu and Kashmir, while healthcare facilities are being upgraded with special focus on improving access in remote areas.
The Minister also highlighted government welfare schemes for various sections of society, especially women, and encouraged youth to benefit from skill development programmes. She stressed that active public participation was essential for transparency, accountability and faster development.
The residents of Sailkhanen raised demands including inclusion of the area in the tourism circuit, improvement in drinking water supply and early completion of the Panchayat Ghar.
Taking note of the issues, the Minister directed officials to identify suitable land for a playfield and also dedicated an ambulance for patient care at the local hospital, citing the area’s remote location and healthcare needs.
Sakeena Itoo assured that other pending demands would be examined and addressed in a phased manner.
