ANANTNAG: Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Mahmood Ahmad Shah on Monday reviewed the preparedness and progress of power infrastructure works for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 during a visit to Pahalgam.
He was accompanied by Chief Engineer (Distribution) KPDCL, Nissar Ahmad Lone, and the Superintending Engineer, Distribution Circle South, Bijbehara.
During the inspection, the Managing Director assessed the power infrastructure being put in place for the annual pilgrimage and directed field officers to ensure uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply throughout the Yatra period.
The Superintending Engineer informed the MD that nearly all required arrangements have been completed for the Yatra, which is scheduled to commence on July 3, 2026. He briefed him on the illumination arrangements at various Yatra camps, including the deployment of diesel generator sets of different capacities and installation of solar lighting systems along stretches where grid connectivity is not feasible.
He further informed that adequate fuel stocks have been maintained at all locations with replenishment mechanisms in place. Sufficient buffer distribution transformers and standby DG sets have also been stationed to meet any unforeseen contingencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ahmad Shah assured that there would be no shortage of electricity or power cuts during the pilgrimage. He said special teams have been deployed at all critical locations to ensure seamless power supply for devotees.
The Managing Director appreciated the dedication and professionalism of engineers and field staff who are working under challenging terrain and weather conditions to ensure reliable electricity arrangements for the Yatra.
He stressed that every effort must be made to provide efficient services to pilgrims and assured full support from the management to field teams engaged in the preparations.
