GANDERBAL: Police have intensified security arrangements across Ganderbal district ahead of the annual Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela 2026 and the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees.

As part of the security preparedness for the Kheer Bhawani Mela, police conducted area domination exercises in and around the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple. The exercise was aimed at maintaining a secure environment for devotees, local residents and visitors expected to participate in the annual congregation.

Security measures have also been strengthened along the Ganderbal–Baltal axis, one of the key routes for the Amarnath Yatra. Police personnel have intensified highway checking and surveillance operations, carrying out thorough inspections of vehicles and maintaining strict vigil at strategic locations to ensure foolproof security along the pilgrimage route.

In addition, Advance Security Tasking (AST) exercises are being conducted at various sensitive and strategic locations to assess and reinforce the security grid, improve coordination among security agencies and ensure prompt response to any emerging situation during the yatra period.

Police said the enhanced measures are part of a comprehensive security plan aimed at ensuring the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of both the Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
