New Delhi: BJP Jammu and Kashmir President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma on Monday held a meeting with BJP National General Secretary, Rajya Sabha MP and J&K Prabhari Tarun Chugh in New Delhi to discuss organisational matters, forthcoming party programmes and the prevailing socio-political situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the party’s organisational structure and deliberated on strategies to further strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level across Jammu and Kashmir. They emphasised the need to intensify public outreach and ensure that the concerns and aspirations of the people are effectively represented.

The discussions also focused on the functioning of the National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP leaders expressed concern over what they described as the government’s failure to meet public expectations, particularly those of the youth.

Sat Sharma, while presenting his assessment of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, said that people had placed high hopes in the present dispensation but the government had failed to address their aspirations and provide effective governance.

He said that the youth, who expected greater opportunities, transparency and responsive administration, now feel neglected and disappointed. Sharma also discussed organisational issues and future party programmes aimed at strengthening the BJP down to the booth level.

He asserted that the BJP would work with renewed commitment to raise issues concerning common people and strengthen its connect with the public across the Union Territory.

Tarun Chugh said the BJP remains committed to the welfare and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to play the role of a vigilant and responsible opposition.

He maintained that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve transparent, accountable and development-oriented governance. Criticising the National Conference government, Chugh said there is growing disappointment among the youth and common citizens due to what he termed as the government’s inability to fulfil its promises and address public concerns.

He said the BJP would continue to stand firmly with the people and act as a strong and constructive voice for their rights, aspirations and concerns.
