J&K Police conduct mock drills in Ganderbal, Anantnag ahead of SANJY-2026

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted mock drills in Ganderbal and Anantnag districts on Sunday as part of security preparedness measures for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026).

In Ganderbal, a joint mock drill was conducted at Pandit Colony Wussan under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal. The exercise was carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Ganderbal in coordination with Central Armed Police Forces to assess operational readiness, strengthen response mechanisms and enhance inter-agency coordination in dealing with various security scenarios.

Officials said the drill was aimed at testing preparedness and improving coordination among security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, in Anantnag, police conducted a mock drill at the Landing Strip in Jablipora, Bijbehara, to assess and strengthen emergency response capabilities ahead of the Yatra.

The exercise evaluated operational preparedness, response mechanisms and coordination among police personnel in handling different contingency situations. Various emergency scenarios were simulated and effectively managed during the drill.

Senior officers reviewed the exercise and emphasised the importance of regular preparedness drills to ensure robust security arrangements and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

Police said such exercises are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security preparedness and ensure the safety, security and convenience of pilgrims during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
