Budgam: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather on Wednesday inaugurated a newly constructed double-lane bridge at Chowdrigund on Nallah Apzari in Chadoora area of Budgam district.
The 25-metre-long bridge with a total width of 11.70 metres has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹474.65 lakh.
Officials said the bridge is expected to improve local connectivity, reduce travel time and facilitate easier access to essential services for residents of the area.
Addressing the gathering, the speaker said that a strong connectivity network is essential for sustainable and balanced regional development.
“Connectivity is absolutely crucial for holistic development of our region. A bridge does more than connect two pieces of land; it links people to markets, healthcare, education and better opportunities,” Rather said.
He reiterated the government’s commitment towards ensuring equitable development across all regions and communities.
The speaker said the newly constructed bridge fulfils a long-pending demand of local residents and would provide all-weather connectivity in the area.
He also assured the public that the government would continue to prioritise development of under-served areas through balanced resource allocation and timely completion of public welfare projects.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Superintending Engineer R&B Erim Lone, senior officials of the Roads and Buildings Department and PMGSY, local representatives and members of the community.
