Advisor reviews New Assembly Complex construction, inspects development works in Jammu

Directs timely completion of projects ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Jammu: Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review of the under-construction New Legislative Complex in Jammu and inspected several ongoing developmental works in the region.

During the visit to the New Legislative Complex, officials briefed the advisor about the ongoing construction, enhanced seating capacity of the Assembly hall, central hall facilities, administrative chambers and other infrastructural works being executed by the concerned agencies.

Nasir Aslam toured the central assembly hall, administrative blocks and public utility spaces and directed the executing agencies to expedite the remaining works while maintaining high quality standards.

“Robust infrastructure is the backbone of effective governance. This new complex is not merely a building; it is a symbol of democratic ethos and must be completed promptly with uncompromising quality,” the advisor said during the inspection.

He also directed authorities to ensure seamless integration of advanced IT infrastructure, modern acoustics, enhanced security systems and e-Vidhan facilities in the complex.

Officials informed that the upcoming legislative complex is being developed as an eco-friendly and technologically advanced facility aimed at improving legislative efficiency and convenience for public representatives.

Later, the advisor inspected several developmental projects in Jammu along with senior officers of the Public Works Department and district administration.

He reviewed the permanent restoration work of the approach road to the 4th Tawi Bridge. Officials informed him that the project has been allotted at an estimated cost of ₹14.59 crore with a stipulated completion period of 12 months.

Nasir Aslam also inspected repair and renovation works at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar being undertaken ahead of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

The works include construction of temporary sheds and hangars for yatris and langars besides blacktopping of parking areas and internal roads at an estimated cost of ₹1.59 crore.

The advisor further inspected the newly completed 105-metre prestressed RCC bridge over Balole Nalla at Gadi Garh, which has been constructed at a cost of ₹7.2 crore.

During the visit, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu Rajesh Augustam briefed the advisor regarding infrastructure preparations related to the annual Amarnath Yatra.

Nasir Aslam directed authorities to ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects to facilitate better public amenities and smooth arrangements for pilgrims.

The advisor also visited the Primary Health Centre at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas to review healthcare preparedness for the yatra and enquired about medical facilities being arranged for pilgrims.

Chief Medical Officer Jammu Harbaksh Singh briefed him regarding healthcare arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming pilgrimage.
