Srinagar: Principal Census Officer (Urban) and Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Faz Lul Haseeb, on Sunday briefed the media regarding the launch of the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027, which began today and will continue till May 31, 2026.
Addressing the media, Haseeb said the self-enumeration initiative allows citizens to voluntarily submit their household and demographic details through a simple digital platform.
He said the initiative aims to promote greater public participation and ensure accuracy in the census process.
The Commissioner described self-enumeration as a major citizen-centric initiative being introduced for the first time in the history of the Indian Census, enabling residents to provide information from the comfort of their homes.
He said the initiative has been designed to promote ease, transparency and efficiency in the census exercise while strengthening public outreach and supporting welfare-oriented planning.
Appealing to the public, Faz Lul Haseeb urged residents to actively participate in the self-enumeration process within the stipulated timeframe and cooperate with the administration for smooth conduct of Census 2027.
He also asked citizens to provide accurate and complete information so that the census reflects a reliable demographic profile useful for planning and development purposes.
