Srinagar: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma on Friday stressed the need for promoting indigenous products and local entrepreneurship during his visit to “The Flea Market” organised by Maple and Ivy at Amar Singh Club.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani was also present on the occasion.
During the visit, the Minister inspected various stalls featuring fashion, handicrafts, food items, décor products and lifestyle brands from different parts of the country. He particularly appreciated the participation of local Kashmiri entrepreneurs and artisans.
Interacting with exhibitors and visitors, Satish Sharma said such platforms provide opportunities for local youth, startups, artisans and small businesses to showcase their talent and products before a wider audience.
He said indigenous products reflect the cultural heritage, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit of Jammu and Kashmir and deserve greater market visibility and institutional support.
The Minister observed that promoting locally made products would not only generate employment opportunities for youth but also contribute towards sustainable economic growth and self-reliance.
He also appreciated the organisers of Maple and Ivy for bringing local and national brands together under one platform and creating a vibrant cultural and commercial space in Srinagar.
Nasir Aslam Wani also lauded the initiative and stressed the importance of creating more such platforms for local entrepreneurs, artisans and startups.
The two-day flea market features more than 60 brands from across the country and includes shopping spaces, gourmet food stalls, handcrafted products, art displays and interactive community activities.
