Srinagar: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmad Rana on Friday met several delegations representing different public interests and assured them of priority redressal of their grievances.
A delegation of the Kashmir Timber Association submitted a memorandum seeking uniform implementation of the E-Way Bill system for timber transit across Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation informed the Minister that although the traditional docket system has officially been replaced by the E-Way Bill mechanism, some authorities continue to demand docket-like documents during transit, causing confusion, delays and operational difficulties for traders and transporters.
The Association urged the Minister to issue clear directions to ensure uniform acceptance of the E-Way Bill at all checkpoints to facilitate smooth functioning of the timber trade.
The Minister assured prompt intervention and directed the concerned officials to ensure that the E-Way Bill system is implemented uniformly without ambiguity.
Meanwhile, another delegation from Mendhar raised issues related to upgradation of water supply facilities and other developmental works in the area and sought early attention towards the region’s infrastructure needs.
Several other delegations also met the Minister and projected various local issues for redressal.
Javed Rana assured all delegations that the government remains committed to public welfare and said all genuine issues would be addressed on priority.
