Legislators raise fuel, Irrigation, LPG and tribal issues during Zero Hour

Jammu: Several legislators on Friday raised public issues during Zero Hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and sought intervention by the government.

MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir said farmers in south Kashmir are facing difficulties as fuel for agricultural and horticultural machinery is not being adequately supplied due to restrictions on loose sale at petrol pumps.

MLA Rajiv Jasrotia demanded bifurcation of ration cards so that eligible people can avail benefits under government welfare schemes.

MLA Khurshid Ahmad sought Pahari district status for Gool Gulabgarh.

MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia demanded that copies of speeches and proceedings of the House be provided to legislators as was done earlier.

MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami highlighted the shortage of LPG and urged the government to facilitate people who have not completed e-KYC so that they do not lose benefits.

MLA Ali Mohammad Dar demanded that the Kanipora sub-division of Chadoora be shifted from Rambagh to its original location.

MLA Hasnain Masoodi sought installation of an ATM near the Wahab Khar Sahib shrine in his constituency for the convenience of devotees.

MLA Qaysar Jamshaid Lone and MLA Mubarik Gul demanded desilting of canals and nallahs in their constituencies to improve irrigation.

MLA Nazir Ahmad Khan raised the issue of pending rent for land used by defence forces and sought immediate payment to the owners.

MLA Muzaffar Iqbal Khan alleged black marketing of building material due to closure of crusher units and demanded government intervention.

MLA Javaid Riyaz Bedar called for repair of irrigation lift pumps and uninterrupted electricity supply for their operation.

MLA Shakti Raj Parihar said Doda is an accident-prone district and sought more doctors, paramedical staff and ambulances.

MLA Kuldeep Raj Dubey raised the issue of pending appointments of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board aspirants and sought implementation of court directions. He also demanded compensation for families affected by road widening projects.

MLA Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi urged the government to hold advance meetings for smooth arrangements during Muharram.

MLA Sajad Gani Lone sought clarification regarding commercial leases granted by the government.

MLA Javid Iqbal Choudhary expressed concern over engagement of teaching staff in census work, saying it affects studies of students.

MLA Zafar Ali Khatana demanded exemption from permission requirements for tribal communities moving with their cattle to the Kashmir Valley during seasonal migration.

MLA Peerzada Feroze Ahmad sought opening of a branch of J&K Bank in Bonigam to facilitate local residents and traders.
