Jammu: Legislators on Sunday raised a wide range of public interest issues during Zero Hour in the Assembly, seeking government intervention on matters related to governance and public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.

Among the major issues highlighted were regularisation of daily wagers and ad hoc employees, pending electricity dues, shortage of teachers and medical staff, delays in infrastructure projects, release of pensions and rehabilitation of affected shopkeepers and workers.

Several legislators, including Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, Shabir Ahmad Kullay and Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, sought relaxation and extension of amnesty schemes for consumers with pending electricity dues.

Other members highlighted shortages of teachers, doctors, engineers and LPG supplies in their constituencies, while several legislators demanded faster construction of roads, bridges, hospitals and other public infrastructure.
