Srinagar: In a major outreach exercise, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir on Thursday organised Mega Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs) across the Kashmir division, witnessing participation of over 5.05 lakh stakeholders in a single day.

According to officials, a total of 6,424 meetings were held across schools, with parents, students and teachers engaging in discussions on academic progress, learning outcomes and institutional functioning.

Director School Education Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani, conducted early morning surprise visits to several schools in Srinagar to assess the proceedings. He visited Government Girls Higher Secondary School Khanyar, where he interacted with parents and students, who expressed satisfaction over academic arrangements.

The Director also visited Middle School Khalifapora, assessing students’ learning levels and stressing the need to make PTMs more result-oriented and focused on student outcomes.

To monitor the exercise across districts, Wani also reviewed proceedings through video conferencing, interacting with stakeholders in multiple schools across Kulgam, Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal and Budgam.

Officials said that field-level outreach was further strengthened with Personnel Officer DSEK, Dr. Iqbal Hussain Mir, participating in a PTM at Higher Secondary School Kokernag, where he interacted with parents on academic performance and student development.

During the interactions, parents shared feedback and concerns, following which the Director issued on-the-spot directions to Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers for immediate redressal of genuine issues.

Expressing satisfaction over the overwhelming response, Wani said the large-scale participation reflects growing trust, accountability and stronger school-community linkages across the region. He urged parents to remain actively involved in their children’s education to ensure better learning outcomes.

Officials termed the participation of over five lakh stakeholders as a significant step towards strengthening inclusive and student-centric education governance in Kashmir.
