Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have filed a charge-sheet in a case pertaining to cheating and fraud on the false pretext of providing a government job, a police spokesperson informed on Monday.
He said charges were filed in case FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 318(4), 61(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the before court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Awantipora.
Police identified the accused persons as Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar alias Mom Dar, resident of Panzgam, and Aijaz Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohammad Shah, resident of Tral Payeen.
During the investigation, it was established that the accused induced the complainant to part with ₹7,00,000 by falsely assuring appointment in a government department. The investigation, supported by bank transaction records and documentary evidence, etc., has substantiated the involvement of the accused persons, police said.
