Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar, Thursday, welcomed the decision of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to drop the proposed 1,324-kanal battalion camp plan near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar.

Sagar described the development as a positive and reassuring step toward protecting the fragile ecosystem surrounding the picturesque Brain–Nishat landscape. He said the green heritage of Srinagar is not merely a stretch of land, but a shared legacy that must be preserved and protected for future generations.

He emphasized that while development and security concerns are important, environmental protection remains a collective responsibility. “When it comes to our natural treasures, prudence is always the best policy. Sometimes, safeguarding nature is the most powerful decision of all,” he said.

Welcoming the CRPF’s decision in the larger interest of the people, Sagar noted that preserving the ecological balance will greatly benefit the environment, tourism sector, and the overall well-being of residents. He reiterated his commitment to sustainable and balanced development, stressing that ecological sensitivity must guide all major decisions impacting the region.

Sagar also expressed gratitude to party MP Chowdry Ramzaan for highlighting the issue in the parliament.
