New Delhi, February 06: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, CA, raised an important question regarding the establishment of IT Parks in Jammu during the ongoing session of the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the need to promote IT growth and generate employment opportunities for youth in the region.

The Minister stated that under the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) scheme, 68 centers have been established nationwide, of which 60 are located in smaller cities. He further confirmed that a Software Technology Park has already been set up in Jammu at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP)

This state-of-the-art STPI facility provides incubation services, high-speed data communication, cloud services, Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT), and other statutory support aimed at strengthening IT and ITeS growth in the region. The centre also plays a vital role in nurturing startups by offering incubation facilities, investor interactions, mentorship from IITs, NITs and industry experts, and networking opportunities for young professionals

Sat Sharma welcomed the reply and stated that such initiatives align strongly with flagship programmes like Digital India and Make in India, and will significantly contribute to economic development, innovation, and job creation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially for the educated youth.

He reiterated his commitment to continuously raising developmental issues of Jammu & Kashmir at the national level to ensure balanced growth and enhanced opportunities for the region.
