Rather chairs Apex Committee meeting on NeVA, asks for early project completion

JAMMU: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today chaired a high-level Apex Committee meeting constituted for monitoring and proper implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) Project at both the Assembly Complexes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Members of the Committee, MLAs, Nizam Ud Din Bhat, Hasnain Masoodi, Tanvir Sadiq, Arjun Singh Raju, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, Dr Sunil Bhardwaj, Dr Bharat Bhushan, besides Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit, were present in the meeting.

A threadbare discussion was held on various issues, including the procurement of Apple iPad for NeVA, procurement of Network Equipment, procurement of All-in-One Desktops, release of additional amount for NeVA, setting up of NeVA SEWA Kendra and execution of NeVA.

The Committee also reviewed various aspects and the ongoing progress of the NeVA project. It focused on expediting the implementation of the NeVA project, which aims to make the Assembly paperless.

Members of the Committee gave their valuable suggestions and stressed on senior concerned officers to speed up the process of implementation of the NeVA project in both Assembly Complexes in Jammu as well as Srinagar.

The Chairman of the Apex Committee emphasised to the concerned authorities the need for the timely completion of the project while adhering to the set quality parameters. The NeVA project is part of efforts to modernise the Assembly’s functioning to make it paperless.

The Chairman of the Committee said that a team comprising members of the Apex Committee and senior officers of concerned departments will be deputed to the States where NeVA has been implemented successfully. He also directed the Law department to ensure the appointment of Nodal officers in all the departments for the NeVA project at the earliest.

During the meeting, the senior officers of the concerned departments briefed the Committee about the status and other physical and financial activities of the NeVA project.

Among others, DG Finance (Budget), Mohammed Sultan Malik; Special Secretary ITD, Shokat Mahmood; GM NICSI, Sudhir K Sharma; Senior Director NIC NeVA Coordination, Anil K Sharma; Deputy Director, General/SIO, Jaskaran Singh Modi; Nodal Officer NeVA, Vishal Sharma besides other senior officers of the concerned departments and Assembly Secretariat, attended the meeting.
