Jammu: Cabinet Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, along with Shamim Begum, NC Candidate for 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency, and Joginder Singh Kaku, DDC Member Nagrota of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), today campaigned in Mathwar and Bhalwal in the Nagrota Constituency.
They rallied in support of the party’s candidate, Shamim Begum, for the upcoming bye-elections, appealing to the electorate to give her a decisive mandate in recognition of her dedicated work as a District Development Council (DDC) member.
Addressing a series of public gatherings, Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma, party candidate Shamim Begum and Joginder Singh Kaku DDC Nagrota highlighted the pro-people initiatives taken by the Omar Abdullah-led government. They cited measures such as the enhancement of the AAY ration quota, free transport for women, and the significant improvements in road, rail, health, and education infrastructure in Nagrota during successive NC-led governments.
The leaders also welcomed the restoration of the Darbar Move, stating that it would help revive trade and commerce in Jammu and bring economic relief to local traders.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fulfilling all promises made in its manifesto, saying, “A number of pro-people initiatives have already been taken, and many more are in the pipeline.”
Joginder Singh Kaku said that the Jammu region had suffered developmental setbacks during non-NC governments, but expressed confidence that with Omar Abdullah at the helm of an elected government, “Jammu will once again make a strong comeback on the developmental front.”
Shamim Begum, Candidate 77- Nagrota Assembly Constituency, emphasised the NC’s legacy of fostering communal harmony, asserting that “the National Conference has always stood for Hindu-Muslim unity and upheld the spirit of unity in diversity.”
Expressing gratitude for the people’s support, Shameem Begum assured that, if elected, she would focus on strengthening sports infrastructure, improving civic amenities, and accelerating pending development works in Nagrota.
Among those who were present in the meeting were: S. Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Provincial President YNC Jammu, Nitish Gowsami, Provincial Vice President YNC Jammu, Jaseen Malik, District President Samba, Zamir Quershi, Ashanand and others.
Meanwhile, party leaders Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell, former MLA Chaman Lal also addressed a series of public meetings in the constituency, seeking a decisive mandate for Shamim Begum to continue her people-centric initiatives.
