Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved ₹5.78 crore for the restoration and preservation of the historic Lah Wali Bowli in Rajouri.
The conservation project will cover restoration of the stepwell and its architectural features while retaining its historical and cultural character. The government said the work is also intended to improve the site’s tourism potential and develop it as a heritage attraction.
The approval is part of a series of heritage conservation projects undertaken by the government across Jammu and Kashmir.
Other projects approved in recent months include repair and renovation of Rattan Garh Fort in Bhaderwah, Doda; restoration of Ziyarat Sharief Khiram; repair of the historic Shiv Mandir at Thajiwara in Bijbehara; and restoration of the heritage site at Purmandal in Samba.
The programme also includes conservation and upgradation of Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar, development of Khoo Sahib spring at Yarwan in Pulwama, restoration of Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian and restoration of Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban.
The government said the initiatives are aimed at preserving historically significant sites while incorporating them into the broader tourism and cultural development framework of Jammu and Kashmir.
