SRINAGAR: MLA Bashir Ahmad Veeri on Wednesday withdrew his Private Member’s Bill that sought government initiatives to create employment opportunities in public and private sectors and promotion of agro-based businesses.
The Bill proposed that, in view of the lack of opportunities for employment in the private sector, the generation of employment avenues in the public and private sectors, like other States of the Union of India, be explored, and agro-based business opportunities be sponsored by the Government.
However, later the MLA withdrew the Bill after the government assured the House that it is implementing a wide range of initiatives to skill the youth under various national and regional schemes, aiming to boost employability, entrepreneurship and industry-aligned capabilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The government said that steps were being taken to fill vacant posts in various government departments on a fast-track basis.
It also assured that the concerns and suggestions raised by MLA would be taken into consideration while framing future employment-related policies.
