Div Com reviews steps to improve Jammu traffic management

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today discussed and reviewed the actionable points to be implemented by the Traffic department, Jammu Municipal Corporation, District Administration and other authorities for improvement of Traffic management in Jammu City.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Transport Commissioner, SSP Traffic, Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) Jammu and Superintendent Engineer Jammu Development Authority.

The meeting discussed various actionable points for comprehensive improvement of the traffic management system in the city. JMC was directed to demarcate dedicated parking zones with the yellow line and tender their operations with the condition that fixed rates are prominently displayed.

The traffic department was directed to put in extra efforts for the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations, particularly restricting unauthorised roadside parking, parking outside Banquet Halls and along one-way roads.

The Chief Engineer, PWD, was asked for speedy repair and reconstruction of the damaged approach road leading to the fourth Tawi Bridge at Bhagwati Nagar to make both of its tubes functional at the earliest.

The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, was directed to closely monitor the implementation of all the actionable points for further improvement of traffic management in coordination with stakeholder agencies.

The Divisional Commissioner further asked the stakeholder departments to focus on meticulous planning and implementation of actionable points in terms of road widening, dedicated parking spots, rotary development and other significant interventions for smooth and hassle-free movement of traffic in the city.
