HRD programme on ‘Integrated Pest Management’ held at Mujgund Srinagar

SRINAGAR: A Human Resource Development (HRD) programme on ‘Integrated Pest Management’ (IPM) was held today at Mujgund, Srinagar.

The event, organized by the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department, Zone Mujgund, witnessed active participation from local farmers and agricultural officials.

Dr. M.K. Arya, Deputy Director (PP), CIPMC Jammu, was the chief guest in the event. In his address, Dr. Arya emphasized the significance of adopting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to reduce excessive dependence on chemical pesticides. He highlighted the environmental and health benefits of IPM, urging farmers to incorporate biological and cultural methods for sustainable pest control.

Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP), CIPMC Srinagar, delivered a detailed presentation on the National Pest Surveillance System Mobile App, explaining its user-friendly features and multiple benefits for the farming community.

The app enables real-time pest reporting, expert consultation, and timely advisories, thereby enhancing pest management and crop productivity.

Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO), Mujgund, briefed the attendees on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes aimed at strengthening grassroots-level agriculture.

In-charge Marketing Officer, delivered an insightful lecture on Marketing Dynamics and Entrepreneurship Development, motivating farmers towards agribusiness ventures.

The programme was well-received by the local farming community, who expressed their appreciation for the informative sessions and practical insights provided. Such initiatives play a vital role in empowering farmers with knowledge and tools for sustainable agriculture and improved livelihoods.
