English translation of Ae’l Naash titled “The Ruined Nest” officially launched

Jammu: The much-anticipated English translation of Ae’l Naash, the acclaimed Kashmiri poetry collection by Brij Nath Pandit Betab, was officially launched today under the title The Ruined Nest. 

The first copy of the book was presented to the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Republic Day.

Translated by renowned Kashmiri author, poet, and translator Mushtaque B. Barq, The Ruined Nest brings Betab’s evocative poetry to a wider audience. Barq, known for his significant contributions to both regional and English literature, praised Betab’s work for its profound emotional depth and cultural resonance.

Expressing his gratitude, Betab thanked the Lieutenant Governor for his support and encouragement, as well as Mushtaque B. Barq for his skillful translation, which preserves the essence and lyrical beauty of the original Kashmiri verses.

Published by Yashita Prakashan, Delhi, The Ruined Nest spans 112 pages and features eighty deeply introspective poems. The collection explores themes of loss, nature, and the complexities of human existence, offering readers a glimpse into the rich poetic tradition of Kashmir.
