Poonch, June 24: A shepherd died due to lightning at forest area of Hungli, Surankote in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night.

Official sources said that the natural calamity struck forest area at Hungli late last night where the shepherd along with other members of the tribe had set up temporary sheds.

They remain in the sheds for summer months.

Mohammad Aslam son of Mir Hussain of village Salwah who came under the lightening was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by members of the tribe in the unconscious state, they said.

The doctors who attended upon the man declared him brought dead, they said.

Station House Officer (SHO), Surankote, Mohd Anzar Mir, when contacted confirmed the man’s death due to the lightning.(GNS)
