Islamia College hosts expert talk on Nanotechnology

Srinagar: The Innovation and Incubation hub of the Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar in collaboration with the Department of Physics, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology organized an Expert Talk titled “Trends and Opportunities in Nanotechnology and Technological Revolutions in last two decades” on August 5th, 2024.

The talk was attended by large faculty members and students of the College. The objective of the talk was to orient students about innovative ideation in Nanotechnology that can lead to novel solutions and products.

The talk was delivered by Prof. M A Shah, Professor at NIT Srinagar, an eminent researcher and reputed Nanotechnologist. Principal Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yusouf formerly welcomed the guest and highlighted the significance of Nanotechnology in solving day-to-day problems confronting humanity in present times.

Dr Zahoor Ahmad Jhat, Convenor Innovation and Incubation Hub of the college apprised the audience about the activities of the Hub and the need to promote a culture of innovation entrepreneurship and startups among our students.

Prof. Shah in his interactive insightful talk and thought-provoking discussion explained the role of Nanotechnology in Nanomedicine (drug delivery systems and imaging), Nanoelectronics (Memory chips and Nano transistors), and Nano fertilizers.

Prof. Shah pointed out the key milestones and pioneers in Nanotechnology.

Prof. Shah also discussed the current research, innovation, challenges and risks in nanotechnology. Prof. Shah encouraged students to undertake research and innovation in Nanotechnology that can get them patents. The students of the College engaged Prof. Shah in an interactive question-answer session pertaining to trends and opportunities in Nanotechnology.

Head Department of Physics, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Dr. Ajaz introduced the expert and explained his achievements and research in Nanotechnology. He also compared the whole proceeding of the Expert Lecture.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Abdul Wahid Bhat, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
