Prof Naseer Iqbal assumes charge as KU’s new Registrar

Srinagar: Former Registrar, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, Prof Naseer Iqbal, Wednesday formally assumed the charge as Registrar, Kashmir University succeeding KU’s former Registrar, Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir, who served the varsity since 2019.

A professor of Physics at Kashmir University, Prof Naseer previously served as Director of North Campus, KU and Chief Proctor, KU and is a visiting professor at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune, an official statement read.

His appointment comes in the backdrop of a government order issued Monday in which the Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, appointed Prof Naseer Iqbal as Registrar, KU; Dr Fayaz Ahmad Loan as Librarian, Allama Iqbal Library, KU; Dr Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad as Director, North Campus, KU and Dr Mandeep Singh as Director, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, KU. 

While acknowledging and appreciating the meticulous contributions of the predecessor, Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir, who played a commendable role in the overall development of the institution, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, expressed her optimism about Prof Naseer’s appointment and hoped to he will deliver with same zeal and dedication, the statement read. 

Prof Khan also welcomed and congratulated the new appointees – Librarian, Allama Iqbal Library, KU, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Loan; Director, North Campus, KU, Dr Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad and Director, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, KU, Dr Mandeep Singh.
