Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam, Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic, contraband substances from their possession, police spokesman informed Wednesday.
He said in Budgam, during routine naka checking at Sunderabad Narbal, police arrested one Jehangir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, resident of Sozieth Goripora, after cannabis-like substance weighing about 940 gms and 80 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon were recovered from his possession.
In Baramulla, at Dani Syedan Uri, Noor Hussain Shah, son of Mehboob Shah, resident of Choolan Kalsan Uri was arrested and 9.46 kgs of contraband cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said.
In Ganderbal, a trucker Sajad Ahmad Sofi, son of Ghulam Hassan Sofi of Saloora Ganderbal was arrested and his truck (JK03H-8638) seized near Bus Stand Beehama, after 16 bottles of Codeine Phosphate syrup were recovered from the vehicle.
Cases have been registered against all the accused in respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
