During investigation, the CCTV footage and other inputs revealed that the deceased was travelling as a pillion rider on a scooty. While crossing a brick-loaded tipper, the scooty tilted due to loose gravel on the road and came into contact with the middle portion of the tipper, resulting in fatal injuries to the deceased.

CCTV analysis and reliable inputs led to the identification of the scooty (JK03M-1577) and its driver, Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh of Chingund, Dooru. The tipper (JK02BL-1557) was also traced through CCTV footage and investigation of the brick kiln from where it had loaded bricks.

Its driver was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Kaschipora. Both drivers, who had fled the spot, have been arrested, and both vehicles have been seized. Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, police have appealed to the motorists to not flee accident sites, but to immediately inform the police and ensure timely medical assistance to the injured. Heavy vehicle drivers have been advised to maintain safe speeds and exercise due caution. The public has been urged to report rash and negligent driving.
