DC Sgr visits One Stop Centre for Women and District Hub for Empowerment of Women at Bemina

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, today undertook a visit to One Stop Centre for Women (OSC) and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) here at Bemina and took stock of the functioning of both the facilities/services.

The Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Revenue, SDM West, District Social Welfare Officer, Staff members of DHEW, OSC and other concerned were present on the occasion.

While reviewing the functioning of the One Stop Centre (OSC) for Women, the DC was given a detailed appraisal about the Centre that has been established to provide assistance to women facing physical violence, sexual, physiological, or emotional abuse in private and public spaces.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took a first-hand appraisal of the functioning of the Centres and enquired about the facilities being given to the women in distress. He was informed of a range of integrated services under one roof including police facilitation, medical aid, legal aid and counselling, psycho-social counselling and temporary shelter for women affected by violence or in distress.

While interacting with the incharge and other staff and victims of violence, the DC stressed them to work with added zeal and commitment towards their duties. He stressed them to treat victims compassionately and ensure their issues are resolved in a time-bound manner.

Similarly, the DC also inspected the District Hub for Empowerment of Women established to facilitate inter-sectoral convergence of schemes and programmes meant for women (women-centric Schemes) with the mandate to create an environment in which women realize their full potential.

He was apprised of the functioning of the Office and the linkage of women beneficiaries who have benefited and assisted through the office of the District hub for the empowerment of women.

District Mission Coordinator informed the DC, who is also the Chairman Mission Shakti that a total of 2289 women have been benefited/ linked since April 2023 till date at the Centre, besides 164 awareness programmes have also conducted so far.

With regard to the upgradation of infrastructure, the DC asked the concerned to take up the necessary landscaping and beautification works for the centres.

During his visit, the DC kick-started the National Girl Child Week 2024 under Bati Bachao Beti Padhao with the signature ceremony to save the Girl Child and educate them at the office of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Abhinandan Home Solina and Adoption Centre ‘Phulwari’ at Sanat Nagar and took stock of both the Centres.

At Abhinandan Home, Solina, the DC took a firsthand assessment of facilities available at and requirements of the school for children with special needs.

He also held a detailed interaction with the staff and management, besides interacting with the students at Abhinandan Home Solina.

The DC also spent an hour with students of the school on the occasion to encourage and boost their morale and confidence.

The DC stressed the concerned Staff to work with added zeal and dedication besides treat the students in a compassionate manner.

On the occasion, the children with special needs enrolled in the Institute put forth several issues before the Deputy Commissioner.

The DC listened to the children’s issues patiently and passed instructions to the concerned for early redressal of their issues.
