Gold medalist of IDBF World Dragon Boat C’ship, Coach call on Secretary YSS

SRINAGAR: Gold medalist of the 16th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Racing Championships, Zahoor Ahmad, Zain Ul Aabidin and Coach Farooq Ahmad Bhat today called on Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, at civil Secretariat, Srinagar.

They had a detailed discussion with the Secretary regarding various issues that need to be taken care of to further boost this potential sport in Jammu and Kashmir. They also shared their experiences of the championship.

Pertinently, the Indian team has won 04 medals comprising one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the Championship held at Rayong Pattaya, Thailand.

Farooq Ahmad Bhat will also represent India at the 19th Asian Games 2023 Hangzhou China in the Dragon Boat event as an International Technical Official alongside Tom Joseph.

Secretary complimented Farooq Ahmad Bhat and wished him good luck for the Asian Games.

Also, the Indian team had won two bronze medals at the 14th ADBF Asian Dragon Boat Championship, 2022 under the coaching of Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Regi KS of Kerala.
