PM congratulates Gavit, Sreeshankar, Basil on Commonwealth Games medals

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Indian athletes Dilip Mahadu Gavit, Sreeshankar and Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath on their medal-winning performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Modi hailed Dilip Mahadu Gavit for winning the gold medal in the men’s 100m T47 event, saying his performance, which set a new Commonwealth Games record and marked his season’s best timing, had made the nation proud.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Sreeshankar on winning the silver medal, describing his effort as exceptional and noting that the medal came with his best leap.

He further praised Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath for securing silver, saying his sprint and determination reflected hard work and focus. Modi noted that the performance was also the athlete’s season best.

In separate posts on X, the Prime Minister wished all three athletes success in their future competitions and said their achievements would inspire aspiring sportspersons across the country.
