Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and Awantipora and recovered huge quantities of contraband substances from their possession, police spokesman said.

Sharing details, he said near Sehpora Bridge (Budgam) police intercepted one Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Naidpora Bon Makhama. Police said 22 kgs of poppy straw were recovered from his possession, following which he was arrested.

At Befina (Awantipora) a drug peddler identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Befina was arrested and 2.5 kgs of Fukki was recovered from his possession.

During the course of investigation, involvement of one more drug peddler — Noor Mohammad Nangroo, son of Mohammad Anwar Nangroo of Badi Bagh Pulwama, surfaced and subsequently, he too was arrested and another 4.7 kgs of Fukki was recovered on his instance, police said.
