Cop dies in road accident on Sgr-Jmu highway

Anantnag: A man was killed and two others injured in a road mishap involving a motorcycle and a car in the Dandipora area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official told GNS that an accident happened between Alto 800 bearing No JK18B 2766 driven by Athar Yaqoob Wagay son of Mohd Yaqoob Wagay resident of Wantrag Kehribal and a Motorcycle bearing number JK03L 2266.

“The motorcyclist Aarif Hussain Chopan (38) son of Ghulam Mohd chopan resident of Checki Gohan and his son Moomin Aarif Chopan (5) received critical injuries,” the official said adding the driver of the Alto car and another passenger Sahil Javid Khaki son of Javid Ahmad Khaki resident of Mattan also got injured.

The injured persons, they said, were evacuated and brought to SDH Kokernag for initial treatment where doctors referred Aarif Hussain Chopan and his son to District Hospital Anantnag for further treatment.

“However, one Aarif Chopan succumbed on the way to the hospital,” they said.

Confirming it, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for investigations.
