Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug-peddlers in Kulgam, Pulwama and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said Sunday.
In Kulgam, 4 kgs of grinded cannabis, 50 grams of cannabis powder and 80 grams of cannabis-like substance concealed in a gunny bag were recovered from the possession of one Mohammad Imran Malik, son of Abdul Rashid Malik of Khaloora, Devsar. He has been arrested.
At village Ahmadabad in DH Pora, police arrested one Gull Mohammad Najar, son of Abdul Samad Najar of Ahmadabad after 3 kgs of poppy straw and 120 grams of cannabis-like substance were recovered from his possession.
In Pulwama, one Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Rajab Wani of Beighpora was arrested at Beighpora crossing after 600 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Handwara, at Panditpora one Lateef Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir of Langate was arrested after 29 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations in all these instances and investigation has been initiated, police said.
