Srinagar, May 22: Lamenting the government’s failure to restore Farsi language in the state, the valley based Farsi Scholars today staged protest here demanding government to take tangible steps in introducing the momentous language with new aura.

The scholars who assembled at Press Enclave here this afternoon held peaceful protest against the government for failing to protect the language which bears historic significance in the subcontinent.

The protesting scholars said despite producing promising Farsi researchers every year since 2009, not a single Farsi department has been established in Jammu University which has created a sense of insecurity among them.

“There are separate departments for Hindi, Sanskrit and Bodh languages at Kashmir University which I think is a bold and historic step taken by the authorities, but at the same time there is no such arrangement in Jammu University for Farsi language,” said Dr Mudasir.

He said that the government keeping in view the significance and impact of Farsi language on the south Asia should take some bold steps in restoring the momentous language in its prestige glory.

Dr Mudasir claimed that Farsi language is at the verge of extinction in Kashmir with state authorities watching gradual death of this language as mute spectators.

“We request Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to convene an emergency meeting and discuss the issue threadbare to protect Farsi language” added Dr Mudasir.
