Holding of Assembly polls, restoration of Statehood must to end public woes: Manjit Singh

SAMBA: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today demanded equitable development in the residential areas of marginalized sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public meeting at Rahya Block in Vijaypur, Manjit Singh said that the marginalized section of the society needs equal treatment from the authorities which has not been provided to them as their residential colonies face a lack of development and poor road connectivity.

“The development is nowhere in the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe colonies. The roads are in shabby condition, and the condition of lanes and drains are also in the worst condition,” he said.

He said that the Govt officials seem to have adopted a biased approach and neglected the deserving people.

“Apni Party is committed to working for the marginalized section of the society and providing them equal opportunities whether it is development or anything else with regard to their fellow citizens in J&K,” he said.

He said that the LG administration has failed on the ground to deliver what they had promised and the B2V programmes have failed to yield any result.

“There is resentment against the concerned departments. The people highlighted their work and such workers were not done on the ground. In this regard, the people are against the B2V programme and protested against the officials who have no funds at their disposal,” he said.

He said that if the Apni Party forms the next Govt in J&K, the officials who neglected the public works and did not listen to their grievances will face action as per the rules.

Amid growing anguish over the attitude of the bureaucracy towards the people, he said that the people in both Regions have been demanding to hold early Assembly Elections and restoration of Statehood.

“The people believe that their issues would be addressed when there is an elected Govt. In absence of the Govt, the issues are growing manifold and the LG administration is unable to address them,” he said.

He said that the authorities have been exposed because of their inability to deal with the situation as the youth have also been worried about the growing unemployment with no hope from the present Govt.

He hoped that the Govt will consider the demands of the people and hold assembly elections for the welfare of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. “The people of both the regions have common issues and they must be addressed,” he added.
