Kupwara: Congress Party feels duty-bound to serve and represent people’s urges and aspirations at every appropriate forum, it will continue its fight against policies detrimental to the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have witnessed only unemployment, and economic downfall, restlessness, lack of development and many other difficulties since the BJP Govt assumed power at Centre.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani made these comments while addressing a daylong Party worker’s convention at Cheepora in Lolab area of Kupwara district.

Senior PCC and DCC (Kupwara) leaders were present at the convention and accorded a rousing ovation to Vikar Rasool Wani on his first visit to Kupwara after taking over as JKPCC President.

Addressing the Party workers’ convention, JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani expressed confidence that Congress Party is strong in J&K even in far-flung areas like Kupwara and elsewhere the Party (Congress) is vibrant situation despite the challenges and urged the workers not to leave any opportunity to serve people in their respective areas, as that, it is the Congress party alone which has always represented and served people equally, without any discrimination.

On this occasion, Wani slammed the BJP Govt at the Centre for disappointing the people of Jammu & Kashmir on every front, terming the Centre’s attitude towards J&K as stepmotherly and unfortunate.

He said BJP Govt is not doing justice to J&K by abandoning the democratic rights in order to serve its political ends and enacting different stories to continue ruling J&K through remote control Wani added and sought an explanation from the Centre with regard to holding of Assembly elections.

JKPCC President laid emphasizes on holding elections after restoring  Statehood to J&K as assured by the Centre on the floor of the house and asked the BJP Govt to shun the confrontation path and adopt pro-J&K policies to ensure that people come out of the morass and confusion created by it. “Mere tall claims over development and good governance which is nowhere to be seen won’t address the concerns of the common people of J&K, who are feeling isolated in absence of popular Govt. Elections are need of the time, which has to happen shortly in the interest of the people of J&K.”
